About pto shaft

How to measure the parts of the PTO shaft

1. Measuring axis
To measure the shaft, first make sure that the shaft is in the closed position, at which time the shaft is the smallest. Use a tape measure to record the length of the outside of each yoke. This measurement is the closing length. Use this measurement to find the correct series size for the tractor horsepower. Make sure you also know if there are shear pins, clutches, or splined implement ends.
2. Measure the universal joint
When measuring the universal joint, measure the length from one end to the other. You also need to record the width of one end of the universal joint. Use these numbers to find the correct size of the universal joint.
3. Put them together
