The standard design is suitable for the use of drive shafts with parallel axes. Depending on the application, it is recommended that a simple joint can be operated up to an angle of max. 25°. A constant angle during continuous operation of max. 15° should not be exceeded.

Is the PTO Shaft North American or Metric?

The easiest way to determine if the PTO is North American or Metric is to determine the shape of the tubing and shafting. PTO is domestic if the tubing/shaft is square, rectangular, hexagonal, or splined. If the tubing/shaft is a bell, lemon or star then it is metric. There are two types of metric drivetrains: German-style (Walterscheid brand) and Italian style (Bondioli & Pavesi). The German shaft/tubing has a lemon and star profile, while the Italian has a bell design.

What series is the transmission system?

An accurate way to determine which series of PTOs you have is to take two measurements of the cross and bearing set on the tractor end of the drivetrain. Use a caliper to measure the outside diameter of the U-joint cover, which is the same as measuring the inside hole of the yoke lug.

Second, measure the u-joint in both directions. Use the cross and bearing identification chart to match these measurements and easily determine the remaining PTO components required or the complete drivetrain required.
