Taper Lock Bushing Installation
Taper-Lock bushings are made with 2 sets of holes, the first for removal and the other for installation. The installation hole is generally larger than the disassembly hole, and the size range is 3525 ~ 6050. The number of holes is determined by the bushing size. Then alternately tighten the set screws and remove the bushing. Depending on the size of the bushing, there may be half-threaded holes on the mounting side.
To install the Taper-Lock bushing, you will need to remove the pulley. Use the shaft key to screw the bushing onto the pulley. Install the bushing so that the tapered end mates with the pulley. Tighten the set screw and pull the pulley up onto the bushing. Then, align the flange of the bushing with the threaded hole on the pulley. Tighten the cap screws and make sure they are not too loose to prevent slipping. Lubricant is not necessary but will help.
